Grad Photographs Toronto | Class of 2012

Today we’ve decided to show you something a little… ok alot different from what we normally do.

A couple weekends ago we created these grad photographs for these two young men (and their families). These two are best friends,  both just graduated high school and are both about to go off into the world in their own directions. It was a complete whirl-wind and SO much fun!!   I spent part of the day with them and let me tell you these two are going places, they’re smart and full of character and strength; it was really cool getting to know them.

I have to admit though, the day was actually quite moving for me.  My three kids are little, really little (still primary and one isn’t even in school) and yet as we were touring around to all their favorite haunts I kept thinking of the day my little ones would leave home.  Sappy, nostalgic me.  I got all caught up in the mix of emotions – one  minute I’m laughing with them about all the crazy (and I do mean crazy!) adventures they have planned as they travel the world and then next I’m a mom in tears imagining my baby walk out the door on her own adventures.  Then as we’re moving through the day I realize something.  More than likely these portraits will be some of the last formal images of these guys until one of them gets married! (Ok that was enough to push me right over the edge!)

We photograph newborns because they are only that tiny for those first few days, then all the firsts (sitting up, standing, first birthday literally fly by!). We photograph tenacious two year olds because you are only that fearless once.  We photograph three and five year olds because the next minute you turn around they have sprouted right out of their chubby baby cheeks and into a toothless grin.  We photograph 12 year olds because that is the last fleeting glimpse of childhood. And we photograph 18 year olds (grad photographs) because well … thats your baby all grown up.

Grad photographs (Toronto or elsewhere) are all about showing the world who you have become. Each session is completely tailored to your interests and your style, making your portraits as unique as you are!  Check out the links below if you’re interested in more details.

How to choose the right photographer for your family

Knowing which photographer to choose for you and your baby can be a real challenge. You deserve the absolute best and spotting the difference between professionals and amateurs can be difficult. As a mother and accredited Maternity Portrait photographer, the last thing I want is for your baby in the hands of someone who doesn’t know what they’re doing. Which is why I created this free guide so you can avoid the pitfalls and know exactly what to look for. Enter your details below and I’ll email it straight out to you.

Shirah Itskovitch2“When working with newborns it is important to find not only an amazing photographer but also a photographer that works amazingly with newborns. Alana has children of her own and her motherly nature shows. She handled our baby as if her own and I was worry free the entire photo shoot. Being a first time mom, everything is scary but having Alana come to our home and work her magic was more than I could have asked for!”
